Dr. Baker grew up in downstate Illinois. She graduated with honors from The University of Chicago, majoring in biology. She then attended medical school at Southern Illinois University. After receiving her MD, Dr. Baker completed her residency training in family medicine at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. As an attending in Pittburgh, Dr. Baker worked in public health service and academic medicine, on the faculty at her residency program. She has a special interest in women’s health and was the doctor for a women’s college in Pittsburgh and did grant funded research in obstetrics. In 1997, she moved to northern Illinois and has practiced in a variety of settings since then—private practice, public health service, academic medicine, and corporate medicine. Her scope of practice has ranged from routine wellness care to delivering babies at home. While she no longer practices obstetrics, she does include women’s health in her practice as well as pediatric care and acute and chronic disease management for all ages. Dr. Baker believes everyone deserves accessible and affordable healthcare.
She and her husband have six children and an energetic dog.
Dr. Joan Pelayo has been helping people with pain and functional limitations for over 30 years. She graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Boston University and a Masteral degree in Acupuncture from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She also is certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) for neurologic patients. She incorporates the wisdom of Chinese medicine and acupuncture into the most effective treatment approaches from Western medicine. As she says, "Nothing brings me more pleasure and fulfillment than seeing my patients relieved from pain and claim back their quality of life."
Sara VanderBloomer is a 1987 Marquette University graduate with over 30 years of experience as a physical therapist. Sara is an expert in orthopedics with certifications in Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling and Professional Yoga Therapy. She also has extensive training in Maitland-Australian Manual Therapy, Myofascial Release and foot and ankle biomechanics. Sara has created a holistic physical therapy practice by applying a biopsychosocial approach to the neuromusculoskeletal system.
Laurie Sanzana graduated from Concordia University in Mequon, WI in Occupational Therapy and has been working with both children and adults for the past 25 years. She has an extensive background in neuromuscular reeducation for both improving movement, posture, and decreasing pain. Laurie has advanced training in Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Zero Balancing. Utilizing a holistic mind body approach, Laurie helps individuals to not only release the physical pain, but also the underlying trauma or emotional patterns that are often involved with chronic pain.
Cesar graduated from the SOMA Institute of Massage Therapy in 2004 as a Certified Massage Therapist and Oakton Community College in 2002 with an AAS in Physical Therapy as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant). A manual therapist for 20 years. Cesar is also a Certified Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor and holds multiple certifications to include Graston Technique, FCE, Myofascial Decompression (cupping), and Shiatsu. Cesar has vast experience working with orthopedic pathologies, musculoskeletal injuries using various soft tissue mobilization techniques. Cesar’s wellness and clinical experience includes pre and post operative care, musculoskeletal pain, postural analysis, body mechanics education, and work conditioning/hardening. Cesar is also a Marine Core Veteran 1990-1995.
